The Science and Impact of Climate Change Lecture

Join us on Tuesday, November 18, at 7:00 PM at Beloit College for the annual Ivan Stone Lecture on “The Science and Impact of Climate Change” by Steve Vavrus, Wisconsin State Climatologist and co-director of the Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts.

 


About the Event:

This presentation will describe the basics of climate change and its impacts, including the historical roots and societal consequences. The lecture will range from global to local in scale and will convey both threats and opportunities surrounding our changing climate.

Steve Vavrus is an expert on global climate change, Arctic climate, Wisconsin climate, and extreme weather.

His research includes using numerical models to assess simulated changes in Earth’s climate in the past (paleoclimate) and future, studying the ongoing and future Arctic climatic change, including societal impacts and effects outside of polar regions, and weather and climate in the Great Lakes region, especially Wisconsin.
