The data used in these plots are from NOAA’s monthly U.S. climate divisional database (NClimDiv). The Palmer Drought Severity Index uses precipitation and temperature data to estimate dryness or wetness. Lower numbers indicate drier conditions; higher numbers indicate wetter conditions.
